Graduation, students playing other sports, and other reasons are why the 2019 Boothbay Region High School girls tennis team has only five players.

Despite the low numbers, 11th-year veteran coach Alex Arsenault said, “We’ll be alright,” when asked about the upcoming season, which begins Tuesday, April 23 at home against Hall-Dale.

Six players graduated from the program in 2018 and only three players are returning: juniors Madison Faulkingham and Delly Clarkson and sophomore Isabel Harkins. New to the team are senior Olivia Paolillo and sophomore Marissa Peters. With only five players, Boothbay will go into each match having to forfeit one of the doubles matches.

Boothbay finished the 2018 season at 5-6, made the playoffs in seventh place, and lost the Class C quarterfinal match to Maranacook.
