Junior guard Kaleb Ames had a career-high 26 points and the Boothbay Region Seahawks had three other players score in double figures in their 76-63 win at Hall-Dale Thursday night.

Senior forward Hunter Crocker added 19 points, junior center Ben Pearce scored 16 and junior point guard Sullivan Rice, 10. Senior forward Nick Morley led the Seahawks in rebounding with 10.

The Bulldogs built a 19-17 lead after one quarter and the shorthanded Seahawks were already in foul trouble.

In the second quarter, the Seahawks switched to a 2-1-2 zone to protect the players in foul trouble. In the period, Rice had eight points as did Crocker. Pearce added six and the Seahawks led 42-30 at the half.

Hall-Dale made a couple of runs at the Seahawks in the second half, but Boothbay responded each time and went on to win.

Owen Austin had 18 points and Josh Nadeau 15 for the Bulldogs.

“I was very pleased with the way the team played tonight, said Seahawk coach I.J. Pinkham in an email. “They got out in transition, played the zone well, and responded when Hall-Dale made a run. The team demonstrated a lot of maturity in the way they played."

The win improved Boothbay’s record to 12-3 and jumped the team into second place ahead of Waynflete in the Class C South Heal point standings. Winthrop is still top-seeded at 14-1.

Boothbay has a few days off before hosting Spruce Mountain, the top seed in Class B South at 13-2, on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 6:30 p.m.
