A fourth quarter rally by the host Madison Bulldogs was stopped by the Boothbay Region Seahawks Thursday evening as the visitors returned home with a 50-47 win.

The Seahawks held a 28-19 lead at the half, but the Bulldogs outscored Boothbay 28-22 in the second half, including a 17-12 edge in the fourth quarter.

The victory improved Boothbay’s record to 14-2 while Madison dropped to 10-6. The Seahawks lead Class C South while Madison is in sixth place, just ahead of Old Orchard Beach.

Junior center Glory Blethen led Boothbay with 18 points, followed by junior guard Haley Abbott with nine (three three-pointers) and junior forward Kylie Brown with seven.

Emily Edgerly had a big night for Madison, scoring 21 points. Lauria Leblanc added 12 points and Katie Worthen had eight.

Boothbay will hit the road again Saturday with a 1 p.m. game at Telstar (3-13). The final game of the regular season is a rescheduled home game against Carrabec (9-7) on Thursday, Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m.
