Seahawks dominate Mustangs, 7-0
The Boothbay Region High School field hockey team is off to a 3-0 start after shutting out the visiting Mt. View Mustangs (1-2), 7-0, on Perkins Field Wednesday, Sept. 10.
Five goals by five different players in the first 15 minutes gave the Seahawks a comfortable lead against the Mustangs, a Class C North opponent.
Sophomore Moriah Smith, who scored three goals, added two more goals in the second half and Boothbay’s stellar defense kept Mt. View from ever mounting any type of scoring opportunities.
Smith started the scoring and the other goals in the first quarter were scored by fellow sophomores Allie Smart, Zuri Smith, Izzy Andreasen and Natalie Flagg. Smart also had two assists, while other assists were credited to Flagg and senior Tatum French.
Jess Steinmetz, sophomore, and senior Sophie White shared Boothbay’s goalie duties.
Boothbay will next host Sacopee Valley Hawks (0-3) on Friday, Sept. 12 at 4:30 p.m.
