For more than four decades now, fans of the “Rocky Horror Picture Show” across the world have dressed up as their favorite characters, recreated signature dance numbers and comedy routines, and shouted out bits of dialogue. But the phenomenon only reached Damariscotta last year when Cupacity projected the cult-classic musical comedy horror parody outside in its rear parking lot.

“We weren’t sure what was going to happen given the pandemic,” says Cupacity owner Susan Murphy. “But the tickets sold out quickly and everybody masked up and managed to maintain social distancing even while doing the Time Warp. It was a great time, and people asked us if we could make it an annual event.”

So Cupacity will be screening “Rocky Horror” once again this Sunday, Oct. 24, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. Tickets, which include a Rocky Horror prop bag plus a special Transylvanian tapas plate, are $20 and available in advance only, either online at https://bit.ly/cupacityrocky or by calling 563.6127.

Beers and wine by the glass will be available for $5 each — and DuJardin’s Susan Chalmers will be tending the Back Bar, mixing up special Rocky Horror-themed craft cocktails, including the Zero-Proof favorite, “The Frank.”

“We have a shadow cast ready to lead the crowd interactions and the parking lot is newly paved and ready for your best dance moves,” Murphy promises. “Plus every ticket holder will be enrolled in a door prize drawing, with the winner getting to go home with a life-size cardboard cutout of Dr. Frank-N-Furter himself.”

Cupacity, at 133 Main Street, was founded in 2019 as an artisanal cafe serving the best in Maine-crafted beverages and locally sourced light-bites while presenting a diverse selection of curated arts and social events: cupacity.cafe.
