Rising Tide donates to Damariscotta River Association
In March, Rising Tide Community Market in Damariscotta donated to the Damariscotta River Association as part of its Co-ops for Community Day program. Each month, Rising Tide donates .5 percent of Wednesday sales to a local non-profit organization that has been nominated and selected by co-op member-owners.
The Damariscotta River Association (DRA) was the recipient for January 2015 and received a donation of $226.87. The DRA is a nonprofit community-supported land trust working in the greater Damariscotta River region. DRA conserves critical land and water resources, including outstanding wildlife habitat, public access, and cultural treasures like oyster shell middens. The DRA offers a variety of educational programs for all ages, including their upcoming “All About Animals” day camp during April vacation and monthly guided hikes with naturalists. The Midcoast Stewards program, an extensive natural and cultural history training program for adults, begins in mid-April. More information about DRA programs and events can be found at www.damariscottariver.org.
Rising Tide’s Co-ops for Community Day recipient for the month of March is the Community Energy Fund of Lincoln County.
