Re: What to do about Trump?

Dear Editor:

Mr. Hammond (Letters, 6/28) does have an impressive list of things, that in Mr. Hammond’s opinion, President Trump is “wrong” about. His answer to correcting the wrongs is for the voters to elect Blue (Democrat) candidates in November, which will result in the impeachment of President Trump.

Mr. Hammond could take a more positive “take the high road” approach in that instead of voting against Republicans, what are the good things that would result by voting for Democrats. For example:

  • The Tax Reform Bill passed in 2018 will be repealed
  • The country’s borders will be opened to all comers
  • The Second Amendment, the right to keep and bear firearms, will be suspended
  • Universal Healthcare will be implemented (except for federal government employees)
  • The Senate will pass as a binding treaty the Paris Climate Accords
  • The Trade Wars will end and the unfavorable balance of trade deficits will continue
  • The Obama era federal regulations cut by the Trump Administration will be restored
  • Fox News and Rush Limbaugh will be constrained
  • Only progressive judges will be appointed
  • President Trump will be impeached
  • Vice President Pence, a conservative and pro-life, will become President

The above “Blue equals good things” list reflects my opinions only (except for my description of Mr. Pence) and like Mr. Hammond’s list of “wrongs” are not constrained by facts.

Maine voters have the smarts to make their own choices on who to vote for in in November and don’t need my or Mr. Hammond’s help to make that choice. The important thing is that you vote.
