Rain, rain go away
Rain, rain, go away. We all wanted to play, but it was a long time before
“summer as we want it” arrived and it now has reverted to more rain! At the fireworks in the harbor the Catholic Church did not have room for even a chipmunk to watch the colorful bursts in the air.
Grimes Cove and the dock have been well populated swimming places when the sun comes out.
Traditional and newly planned activities are in place at the Casino in rain or shine. The traditional Horribles Parade, races, and evening chicken barbecue were a great success on July 6. There were so many little people in the parade; it guaranteed that traditions will carry on.
At our house the chipmunks are over abundant, so we borrowed Have-a-heart traps, and the children caught several chippies in a few days, but since it was catch and release, the smart critters returned and got fatter on the goodies inside the traps.
There are many new friendships started for the children in these first days, and the renewed joy for us all of being together with summer friends.
Remember to go to the Ocean Point Store for hot doughnuts and other necessities. Get there early.
Do not forget the Ocean Point Food sale at the Casino on July 12, 9:30-11 a.m. There are sweets and savories and both adult and child raffles. Admission includes coffee, doughnuts, and a chance for the prizes. Call Donna Logan at 207-633-7202 with questions.
