Pemaquid Chapter, NSDAR
The Pemaquid chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the America Revolution held the September 10 meeting at the Lincoln Home conference room at 11 a.m. Regent Louise Brown welcomed eight members and one guest. The meeting opened with ritual opening, pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, American's Creed, and the preamble to the constitution.
Memorial service was held in memory of those who were lost in the 9/11 disaster and their families.
Our new national President General message was read by Patricia Viles. The new President General is Lynn Forney Young.
National Defense Message was given by Elaine Davenport.
Associate member Shirley Reverly of York Chapter, NSDAR, and her sister Barbara Belnap, prospective member of the Pemaquid chapter gave a wonderful history of “Two Real Daughters” from Alna. Their names were Catherine Sargent and Julia Ann Frances Donnell. Real Daughter's were members of NSDAR. Their fathers were Revolutionary War patriots.
After the meeting we enjoyed lunch and conversation.
September 17-23 was “Constitution Week.” Pemaquid chapter reminds citizens to take a look at the Constitution during this 266th anniversary of the signing of the Constitution of the United States of America.
Our meetings are open to the public. Join us. Maybe you can find your ancestor who fought in the revolution or served in other capacities.
