Paul C. Lakschewitz of Los Angeles, California and Southport Maine, passed away peacefully on Aug. 2, 2026.

Paul was raised in Belmont, Massachusetts by his parents, George and Margaret (Lehan) Lakschewitz. Paul enjoyed summers in Maine with his elder brother, the late George Lakschewitz and his younger sister, the late Ann Sheehan.

Paul was a graduate of St. Luke’s School, Belmont, St. Patrick’s High School, Watertown, Massachusetts, and St. Michael’s College, Colchester, Vermont. Paul moved to Los Angeles in 1974 to start what would be a career of more than 30 years with Hilton Hotel Corporation.

Paul’s happiest days were spent in Southport. He loved walking the “loop” near his house, working on a project, boating around Boothbay Harbor or enjoying lunch at Trevett Country Store or a lobster dinner at Round Pond.

Paul’s signature dinners prepared on his Weber charcoal grill became the essence of summer for many of his family and friends. “Uncle Paul” to most who knew him, shared his favorite spots in Maine with all who visited.

Paul is survived by his niece, Emily Lopez, and her husband Carlo of Marblehead, Massachusetts and their children Nicholas and Margaret, and William J. Sheehan IV, and his wife Elizabeth, of New York New York and their daughters Louise and Katherine and Paul’s brother-in-law, William J. Sheehan III of Boston.

Additional survivors include Paul’s cousin Richard O. Kershaw and his wife, Elizabeth, of Belmont and Southport; their children Richard O. Kershaw Jr. and his wife Andrea of Naples, Florida along with their three daughters, Leah, Meghan and Catherine; David O. Kershaw and his wife Melissa of Belmont, along with their sons David Jr. and Ryan; Kevin O. Kershaw and his wife, Meghan, of Westwood, Massachusetts, along with their children Grayson and Vivian. Paul had the good fortune to be “adopted” into the Nicolaou family of Los Angeles. He is survived by Carl (Deborah) Nicolaou and Emile Nicolaou, and his friend of many years, Claudia Nicolaou. Paul watched Carl and Emile grow up, shared holidays and graduations, Carl’s wedding and the birth of Carl’s children, Sophia and Christian. Paul also leaves neighbors on the street where he lived for over 50 years as well as many friends from his days at Hilton with whom he was in contact until the end of his life.
