Officially winter
Well, it’s official. Winter is here. We have had two snowstorms in the past week and the ski resorts are fully operational!
Julie Brown sent me a beautiful picture that was taken down by the inn after 22 inches of snow and Sue Goodrich posted some awesome pictures of the snowstorm on the blog as well.
Ocean Point is so different in winter and yet just as beautiful as in the summer season. I do hope that these early storms are not an indication of what the rest of winter will be like, if so, it will be a long one. Although, if you participate in outdoor activities as we do, it certainly helps to shorten the season.
An email from Dianne Eakin finds her quite busy with her activities in sunny and very warm Florida. Dianne is singing in her church choir, as well as playing tennis (and I’m sure some golf) and enjoying the fabulous weather and the beach. Quite a contrast from the weather that we are currently experiencing. But we are certainly happy that she is enjoying it all.
Joan Fischer sent along some exciting news regarding the recent wedding of Devon Demers and Rachael Jones. Joan reports that it was a very beautiful and elegant wedding with many of Devon’s Ocean Point childhood friends in attendance: Chris and Hannah Webber, Andrew and Erica Dunlap (both of whom were recently married as well), Joan, Annie and Jake Fischer, and Devon’s uncles and aunts and their families. Also in attendance were Meredith McFall and her boyfriend Jim.
Joan remarked at how quickly Devon and his friends (and her own children) have grown up, how they have remained so close, and how great it is to have lifelong Ocean Point friends who become like family. For me it was not so long ago that all of these young people were marching in our Fourth of July Horribles parade! Congratulations to Devon and Rachael.
In other wedding news, Roseanne Bourassa sent me an article from the New York Times Fashion and Wedding section dated December 15. It was a picture of Rev. Peter Panagore presiding over the nuptials of a couple on Martha’s Vineyard in September.
Congratulations to Paul and Sue Taylor who recently moved into their new home at Ocean Point. They are joining our growing population of year-round residents at the Point. We wish you many happy, healthy years in your new home.
There will not be a column next week but I will resume for the January 9 edition. I want to thank all of you for your continued support and kind words, and of course your news during these past few months. I look forward to all of your news in the coming year.
Happy holidays and a very happy New Year!
