New garden
Rain adjusted the Inn’s activities calendar at St. Andrews Village.
A boat ride on the Kennebec River had been planned, but who wanted to go on a soggy day?
Cottager Linda Garrett did, so she went by herself and had a glorious day on the water, savoring the scenery, marveling at ospreys and other sights new to her.
She has recently come to the Village from the St. Louis, Mo., area.
When villagers would have met social worker Sandy on Monday, the event was postponed until the next day.
That Tuesday had been marked for a picnic at Barrett’s Park, but rain cancelled the promised trip. Instead, Sandy came to meet Village residents, answering questions and explaining what her job includes.
Wednesday was the scene of a lively meeting of the Village book club. Each person brought what she had been reading and told the group about those books.
Highlight of Thursday was the Gregory Wing Garden Party. The rain had cleared.
Residents from all over the Village came to the cheerful, sunlit new garden which had been given by St. Andrews Hospital Auxiliary.
Garden club members had helped residents plant flowers in this special space. There were drinks (lemonade and iced tea) and goodies for all, and many residents wore garden party hats. This was fun for all.
