Edgecomb Eddy School will welcome three new faces and two familiar ones when school starts. On July 27, the school committee filled four teaching vacancies and hired a food services manager. 

 

Last year, Stacy Peters worked for the Community School District in Boothbay Harbor preparing meals for Edgecomb. The meals were delivered to Edgecomb, and Peters would participate in serving them to students. She is now Edgecomb Eddy School's food service director. Peters will prepare and serve school breakfasts, lunches and snacks on-site. 

 

Superintendent Bob Kahler said the Edgecomb School Committee has wanted to begin serving meals in the school's cafeteria for years. "She will now be dedicating all of her time in Edgecomb. The committee believes this position will create a better nutritional value in the meals served," Kahler said.

 

The committee hired Cindy Marino as a special education teacher working in the pre-kindergarten program. She will be focusing on 3- and 4-year-olds with special needs, said Kahler.

 

Last year, Lexi Dalton worked as an educational technician at the school. This fall, she will teach fourth grade. Kahler said she has worked as a teacher in other districts. Emily Myers is the new sixth grade teacher. Joanna Mason was hired as a special ed teacher.

 

The committee also accepted four resignations: Liz Giles Brown, physical education; Amanda Cushing, special education; Laurie Brown, teacher; and Sarah Currier, teacher. 

 

The committee meets next at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26 in the school cafeteria.
