More October classes at Adult Ed
Coming up at Boothbay Region Adult Ed in the next few weeks you can take a class on how to better manage your money, get advice about job hunting, learn more about using your iPad, and how to work with MS Excel for home or business.
On Thursday, Oct. 24 there are two one evening workshops that are designed to assist people in money management and job searches. In How Money Works you’ll learn how to avoid common money mistakes to overcome financial obstacles and achieve your goals.
Libby Farmer, a financial planner, will provide practical advice and answer questions about personal finances. This workshop is from 6 to 8 p.m., and the cost is $8.
Also on October 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. in Job Seekers Workshop, Shelley Taylor from Women, Work and Community, will discuss job search strategies such as creating a better resume, resources, interviews and what’s available to help you discover new possibilities. You’ll also create your own job search plan. This workshop is free, however you must register in advance by October 22.
iPad — Getting Started is a five session class that meets on Mondays beginning October 21 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Whether you’re a new iPad user or just want to learn more about it, join Lisa Smith who will explain email, accessories, sharing photos and apps.
Understand how to download and organize your apps, and how to use Google maps as well as other free or low cost apps people have found helpful. She will also allow time for questions. Please bring your iPad to class. The fee is $45.
Basic Excel is a hands-on introduction to this powerful spreadsheet application. Learn the basics of worksheets, how to use tools and functions, set-up a worksheet, create formulas, import and export information, and more. Excel is used by many businesses, and is also a valuable tool for personal use. Pre-requisite is basic computer and keyboard skills. The class is on October 28, 29, and 30 from 6 to 8 p.m., and the fee is $35.
