Midcoast Conservancy is pleased to announce it will be hosting the State of the Lake on Thursday, Aug. 20, 4-6 p.m., at the Jewell Lodge at Wavus Camp in Jefferson. 

State of the Lake offers an opportunity for attendees to hear about the work Midcoast Conservancy is doing throughout the Damariscotta Lake Watershed. In addition to organizational information, tables will highlight hands-on ways to get involved including helping spot invasive plants, greeting boaters and providing education through Courtesy Boat Inspection, or supporting Public Health Monitoring efforts on the lake.

The event will feature guest speaker Sgt. Justin Fowlie, the regional Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife (IF&W) officer who oversees the Damariscotta-Midcoast region, who will present a program on Maine’s regulations pertaining to recreation on the lake, recent changes in the laws, enforcement policies and procedures, as well as IF&W’s water quality and invasive plant initiatives.
