AUGUSTA — The Maine CDC has updated its list, May 10, of COVID-19 cases in the state of Maine.

Today, there are 1,436 confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases across the state, including 1,312 confirmed cases and 124 probable cases. 

Across the state, 861 people have recovered from COVID-19, while 64 people have died. The number of people hospitalized, at some point during their illness, across the state stands at 199.

Looking at hospital COVID-19 data, there are currently 36 hospitalized, including 17 in critical care and 10 on a ventilator. There are 158 available critical care beds out of 288 total and 216 available ventilators of 308 total and 413 alternative ventilators.

The Maine CDC reports 22,092 negative cases, as of May 6. “Maine CDC will publish negative results once a week on Wednesdays. Because of the number of outside labs that are testing samples from Maine, it is not currently possible to post a complete count of negative tests on a daily basis,” the Maine CDC website states. 

By sex, 767 females have tested positive in the state and 666 males have tested positive. The sex of three individuals was listed by the Maine CDC as unknown. 

The below cases represents the number of full-time Maine residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Maine CDC. 

“This is likely an underrepresentation of the true number of cases in Maine since not all individuals are being tested,” the Maine CDC says. “For individuals not considered to be at high risk, medical providers are currently advised to diagnose COVID-19 based on symptoms.”
