AUGUSTA — The Maine CDC has updated its list, May 1, of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state of Maine.

Today, there are 1,123 cases confirmed across the state.

Across the state, 657 people have recovered from COVID-19, while 55 people have passed. The number of people hospitalized, at some point during their illness, across the state stands at 177.

Looking at hospital COVID-19 data, there are currently 37 hospitalized, including 17 in critical care and nine on a ventilator. There are 171 available critical care beds out of 330 total and 290 available ventilators of 316 total and 397 alternative ventilators.

The Maine CDC reports 19,546 negative cases, as of May 1.

“Maine CDC will publish negative results once a week on Wednesdays. Because of the number of outside labs that are testing samples from Maine, it is not currently possible to post a complete count of negative tests on a daily basis,” the Maine CDC website states.

By sex, 597 females have tested positive in the state and 526 males have tested positive.

The below cases represents the number of full-time Maine residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Maine CDC.

“This is likely an underrepresentation of the true number of cases in Maine since not all individuals are being tested,” the Maine CDC says. “For individuals not considered to be at high risk, medical providers are currently advised to diagnose COVID-19 based on symptoms.”

Each day, the Maine CDC updates its COVID-19 data on its website with the latest coronavirus numbers from across the state. Today’s update came at 11:45 a.m.
