Marriage equality faith-based training July 19
The Midcoast Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will be hosting a faith-based training session with The Religious Coalition Against Discrimination and Equality Maine at the Mobius Community Center, 319 Main St. in Damariscotta, on Thursday, July 19, from 6 to 9 p.m.
The workshop is for individual people of faith and for members of congregations who want to know how best to support marriage equality in Maine.
The three-hour training will focus on teaching people of faith to tell their stories and have meaningful conversations about marriage equality with friends and family members. Participants may attend alone or in a team from their congregation. This training will help those who are connected to their faith and committed to equality share with others why they support the proposed law granting civil marriage rights to same-sex couples.
There is no charge to attend the workshop, and it is open to members of all faiths. Please contact Lindy Gifford if you would like to attend, lindyg@tidewater.net or 563-1736.
The Midcoast Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, which voted on June 3 to endorse the November 2012 ballot question on same-sex marriage, meets Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. at Skidompha Library in Damariscotta. For more information, go to www.uumidcoast.org.
