Many leaving for the season
This article is not going to be nearly as long as Pat’s article last week. There isn’t as much going on, and many people have left for the season. It’s easy to get a parking spot these days!
On the Tuesday after Labor Day, Hannah Morehouse had her traditional dinner party to which we all bring something. Luckily it was good weather so we were able to gather on the porch before dinner. Thank you, Hannah!
Jackie Robie and Lars Rydell left earlier than usual because they have a wonderful trip to Scandinavia planned for September. Perhaps they will let Susan Bean know how it went when they return. And the Welty’s went to a formal wedding in Massachusetts to which they wore very fancy clothes. Just several more things they had to bring east from Colorado Springs for the summer. But they said it was a delightful time.
Joanne Phillips is here for the weekend with some of her friends one of which is Betsy Moore. Betsy was one of my best friends in grammar school in Mamaroneck, N.Y. It was great to see her again, though we are both getting grayer fast. The other friends of Joanne are:
Pat Ridlon and I are both still working at Central Maine Botanical Gardens. Pat drives a cart for visitors to explore the gardens and I help out with horticultural therapy sessions that are held for visitors from senior citizen living homes.
Carol and Peter Burvill are back on the island, so Carol, Pat and I will do our golf thing again. We do it more or the fun than to play a fabulous game of golf.
Alan Hutchinson and Ruska Truncali got married on the west shore of the island on Saturday. It was a family affair so Scott, Deana and family and Julie and Joel with their kids too, and the Aeschliman crew as well.
Thank goodness it was a nice day, not overly hot and the rain held off. There were a lot of fancy clothes, long dresses and ties, even on the kids. Avery Hutchinson was up a tree in her fancy little dress and shoes until Dad made her get down. Congratulations and happy days to both Ruska and Alan.
Jamie, Margo, Sam and Cooper are in the Ridlon family cottage with guests and of course Max the kid with a tail.
We noticed that quite a bit of trimming was done in front of the Swift/Kelly cottage and Monty has been working on clearing out the point near the Ridlon family cottage. The views are much improved!
