A small gathering came together at the Fishermen’s Memorial on Sunday, June 25 to hear ceremonies recalling those lost at sea and then to watch as local clergy blessed the local fishing fleet.

Following the invocation by Fr. Thomas Murphy, John O’Connell and the Reverend Richard Rego read the names of those lost at sea. Smith Climo lead the singing of “Amazing Grace.” The Coast Guard Honor Guard then placed a wreath at the monument.

Members of the clergy then proceeded to the wharf, where more than 20 boats passed to be blessed.

One woman aboard pointed to her brother steering the boat and called out, “Bless my brother good, he really needs it.”
