Local reproductive and women's health at Health Center

Tue, 03/30/2021 - 8:45am

Attention all local women, girls and teens. Did you know that every Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Susan Lord, Family Nurse Practitioner, Primary Care Provider, and Reproductive Health & Family Planning specialist is available at the Boothbay Region Health Center in the Meadow Mall?

Young women should also be aware that, in Maine, anyone 14 or over can receive confidential reproductive health care with no requirement for parental consent. Susan Lord can help women of all ages with pregnancy testing and contraception choices. She welcomes teens and young adults as well as women of all ages. She is particularly skilled in treating menopausal women.

Susan has been practicing medicine in Maine for 41 years. She received her RN degree from the University of Southern Maine and attended medical school at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a specialty in women's health. She began her career at PenBay's Birthing Center. And then moved on to Maine Family Planning, where she has been practicing in both their Rockland and Damariscotta offices for 30 years.

Susan joined our practice in 2018, and has been working with us every Saturday. She has expanded her scope to practice both Family Medicine as well as women's medicine. Susan is also well-versed in treating boys and men and is particularly helpful if you suspect you may have contracted a sexually transmitted disease. She also welcomes members of the LBGTQ community. So if you are seeking a new Primary Care Provider, you may also want to consider Susan. (I can personally attest to her excellence as my PCP.)
