Lincoln County Democrats called upon to support candidates
Democrats need to maintain their majority in Augusta and take back the governorship this fall in order to turn back the worst excesses of the LePage administration. "This campaign season will be tough," said Lisa Miller, chairman of the Lincoln County Democratic Committee. “So we are asking all Democrats to be more active this year and do what they can to help the outstanding slate of Democratic candidates win in November."
Activism can start with the upcoming LCDC meeting to be held on January 22 in Wiscasset. Democratic legislators will stress the importance of citizen involvement in Augusta, and will point out some committee hearings and legislative sessions when citizen involvement will be most useful. Attendees will also have the opportunity to sign candidates' State of Maine Primary Nomination Petitions, which must be filed with the Secretary of State, including those for Mike Michaud and Shenna Bellows.
Rachael Irwin, the new Communications Director of the Maine Democratic Party, will discuss information available to Democrats. Her presentation will be of interest to those many Democrats who have often said, "We need more information."
All Democrats are invited to the meeting, which will take place in the 911 Communications Center behind the Lincoln County Court House in Wiscasset on Wednesday, January 22. A 30-minute social gathering will begin at 6:30 p.m., and the meeting will get under way at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be available.
Other dates for Democrats to mark on the calendar are March 2 for the Maine Democratic Party Town Caucuses and May 30-31 for the Maine State Democratic Convention. More information about these and other events is available at www.lincolncountydemocrats.org.
