The Lincoln County Animal Shelter of Edgecomb, a nonprofit committed to the care and adoptions of homeless animals across 25 Midcoast rural towns in Maine, has been selected as a beneficiary of the Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag Program for the month of August.

This program has been designed to support local nonprofits like LCAS. For every blue Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag with the good karma messaging purchased at the Waldoboro Hannaford store, located at the intersection of Routes 1 and 32, the animal shelter will receive a $1 donation in order to help fulfill its mission of finding homes and providing medical attention for the area’s stray, homeless and abused animals. The bags retail for $2.29 per bag in the store.

“We’re thrilled about being selected for this program,” said Jane Siviski, marketing manager for the Lincoln County Animal Shelter. “All those dollars add up to make a big difference for our dogs and cats. It’s wonderful of Hannaford to support our animals in this way. We care for 1,500 animals every year, and every bit counts!”

Lincoln County Animal Shelter has a goal of raising $500 in the month of August as a beneficiary of the program, which is equivalent to 500 bags bought in support of the cause.
