Lincoln Academy’s Ella Beauregard and Arden Carleton dominated afternoon sailing to overcome a six-point deficit and win the 2019 Maine State Women’s Double-Handed Championships on Saturday, Oct. 12. The event, hosted by The Apprenticeshop in Rockland, is named in honor of Jean Becton, winner of the 1936 and 1946 Maine State Sailing Championships. Nine teams made up the competitive fleet, sailing in a variety of conditions throughout the day. Strong 10-15 knot winds with higher gusts in the morning, moderated to 8-10 knots in the afternoon.

Beauregard and Carleton’s patience and resilience to come back in the afternoon with three firsts and a second demonstrates what a well-earned victory this was. Thanks to The Apprenticeshop for hosting a great championship event.
