The Boothbay Region Community Resources Council (BRCRC) is pleased to announce that they have a cure for your “zydeco fever!” On Thursday, June 23 beginning at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 7), the Dr. Zog band will play their Swampadelic at the Opera House. A Louisiana style of music, Swampadelic combines a dash of zydeco, blues and funk for a mixture that is likened to a big old simmering pot of Swampadelic gumbo. Dr. Zog has been playing zydeco music for about 20 years, and he has eight albums – mostly zydeco – to show for it. But he clings to his local color as his songs are steadfastly, unapologetically Texan that are flavored with lots of Texas content and amusing self-parody — the way Jimmy Buffett would do zydeco if he was from Texas.

“Put on your dancing shoes and get ready to feel happy music!” Tickets are $20/person ($25/person day of the show) and can be purchased at the Opera House or by calling Sue Burge at 350-1581. All proceeds from the sale of tickets will go to benefit the Boothbay Region Community Resources Council and the Opera House.
