Lady Seahawks, Blethens honored for charity work

Cathy Evers, president of the Taylor Memorial Fund, made a special presentation to the Boothbay Region High School girls basketball team, with special mention of the Blethen family, Friday night, Feb. 1 before the girls home game against Lisbon.
The fund was established in 2011 to support children who lose their parents to domestic violence in Maine. Each year, a preseason basketball tournament, the Taylor Tip Off, is held to help raise money for the fund.
For the past several years, BRHS basketball players Faith, a senior, and Glory Blethen, a sophomore, with help from their teammates, family and the community, have been the top individual fundraisers. The Blethen girls have raised over $4,500 for the fund in just the past three years.
