Kathy Goldner named BRHS director
The Boothbay Region Historical Society board of trustees is pleased to announce current outreach manager Kathy Goldner has been named director of day-to-day operations beginning Jan. 1, 2021. Kathy first joined the BRHS staff as outreach manager in 2017. Since then she has played pivotal roles in several areas, most notably in community education. By combining hands-on learning in the classroom and at the museum, Kathy works closely with third-grade teachers and students at Boothbay Region Elementary School to help them connect to their own local history. As media coordinator, she creates the society’s monthly e-news and posts several Facebook photos and stories each week. She will soon begin working on a complete overhaul of the society’s website to support more online content, interactivity, online purchasing, and more.
Kathy will continue her community outreach and media work, and also work with board committees to manage society events and projects. She will coordinate with the board and office manager, Claire Rittershaus, to ensure general society business runs smoothly. We are delighted to welcome Kathy to her new position. Her commitment to the society’s efforts and her level of energy and enthusiasm have made her an integral part of the society’s recent endeavors.
As a reminder in this age of COVID, local historian Barbara Rumsey and office manager Claire Rittershaus are still available to help with research inquiries. The museum is open by appointment-only with a limit of five people. To schedule a visit or ask a question, please call or email: 633-0820; brhs@gwi.net. We look forward to reopening for visitors, community gatherings, speakers, exhibits, bake sales, and more by spring 2021. To keep up with society activities, please follow us on Facebook or sign up for our free monthly e-news. Kathy may be contacted with questions or suggestions at boothbayhistoric@gmail.com
