This week’s Boothbay Region Garden Club’s Home and Garden Tour highlight focuses on what once was a 17-room island inn that in 1900 could be purchased for just $1,500 with an additional lot priced at $150! Now a beautifully renovated private home, it retains much of the charm of the old historic inn through the use and repurposing of many of the old features such as original room numbers above the upstairs bedroom doors. Murals of island settings and the surrounding grounds can be found throughout and “There are surprises, antiques, love and ingenuity around each and every corner” to be discovered. The lovely gardens begin near the home and extend to encompass the lot across the street.

The BRGC Home and Garden Tour takes place on Friday, July 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Purchase your ticket from the Boothbay Harbor Chamber of Commerce, 192 Townsend Ave, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538, 633-2353 or contact Irene Gerny (633-5052) or Pat McMurry (633-7405) directly for tickets and information. Tickets are $30 when purchased in advance. This tour always sells out so make your purchase early. Any tickets available on tour day will cost $35.
