Historical Society says thanks for a great summer
On October 12, the Boothbay Region Historical Society hosted its final event of the summer, its annual Grafton Village cheddar cheese and sweet treats sale.
Goodies from the sweet treats sale sold out before day’s end and a few remaining cuts of cheese were gone several days later. The winning raffle tickets were held by Ellen Baldwin, who won a gift certificate from Sherman’s Book Store, and June Giles, who won the gift certificate from Jansen's Clothing Store.
As the holidays approach, BRHS will be featuring a new exhibit about Civil War history and related artifacts from the region. In addition, the society will host a holiday open house on December 7, with refreshments, holiday gifts for sale, and the raffle drawing for the numbered print “Coastal Maine” by local artist Tony van Hasselt.
Tickets for this raffle will be available until the day of the drawing at the museum.
BRHS wishes to thank all who supported its mission this year, especially the local businesses who generously donated gift certificates for our raffles. These businesses include Grover’s Hardware, Jansen’s Clothing Store, the Boothbay Harbor Restaurant Group and McSeagull’s Restaurant, Sherman’s Book Store, A Silver Lining, and the Trevett General Store.
The BRHS museum is located at 72 Oak Street and open to the public from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. To learn more about the BRHS, please call 207-633-0820 or visit www.boothbayhistorical.org.
