High school sailors begin practicing

On April 9, the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club-sponsored High School Sailing Club braved the 39 F waters of Boothbay Harbor for their first practice of the season. Sailing the club's 420 class two man boats, young folks of the area braved waters that attracted only one lobsterman that afternoon.
Under the tutelage of Coach Sally Lloyd, 13 young people from our area are having the experience of a lifetime, learning to sail and race in the historic waters that BHYC-sponsored groups have sailed since 1895! This experience is open to all youth of the area, whether they have previous sailing experience or not.
