Hendrick’s Hill Museum to reopen this summer
Hendrick’s Hill Museum in Southport has announced it will reopen under new COVID-19 guidelines this summer. From July 1 to Sept. 4, the museum will be open every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Last year, due to the pandemic, the museum closed to the public for the first time in its 32-year history.
The museum will follow state Center for Disease Control and town policies which include the requirement that unvaccinated adults and children must wear masks. In addition, volunteer tour guides will be strongly recommended, but not required, to get vaccinated.
The museum will be open during the scheduled hours for both appointments and walk-ins. However, visitors who make an appointment will be given preference over walk-ins. There will also be a limit of one tour group in the museum at a time. If a tour is underway and unscheduled visitors arrive, they may schedule an appointment or wait for the next available opening.
“The overall objective is to be sure that both our visitors and volunteers are safe and comfortable in order to enjoy all the museum has to offer,” the museum said in a statement.
The museum is at 419 Hendricks Hill Road. To make an appointment, call 633-1102.
