The Boothbay Region Seahawks suffered their second defeat of the season and the first one at home as the Hall-Dale Bulldogs pulled away in the final quarter and won 67-59 Tuesday night, Jan. 7.

According to Seahawks Coach I.J. Pinkham, the difference in the game was that Hall Dale played at a higher intensity level, and their defense forced numerous Boothbay turnovers, 19 for the game.  The Seahawks had their worst shooting night of the season, 36% from the floor and 58% from the free throw line.

The win dropped Boothbay to 7-2 and out of the top spot in Class C South as the Winthrop Ramblers are now #1 with a 10-0 record. Winthrop defeated Lisbon 55-45 Tuesday night. Boothbay dropped to second place and Hall-Dale, which improved to 7-2, jumped to third place.

Junior Ben Pearce led the Seahawks with 20 points, followed by Hunter Crocker with 14. Sullivan Rice and Kaeden Davis each scored 10 for Boothbay.

Hall-Dale had four players in double figures. Josh Nadeau and Patrick Rush had 17, while Ian Stebbins and Sam Sheaffer each had 11.

The Seahawks are scheduled to travel to Rumford Thursday night to face the Mountain Valley Falcons. The Falcons are 3-6 but only lost by three to Hall-Dale just before Christmas.
