Hackensack Fire Department to honor Kubler at service

Hackensack, NJ Firefighter Richie Kubler, a 1st Responder to the World Trade Center bombing on September 11th, 2001 died as a result of 9/11 WTC Occupational Cancer.

    It is with deep regret the Hackensack Fire Department of Hackensack, New Jersey and the Professional Fire Fighters of Maine announces the line of duty death of Firefighter Richard Kubler. Firefighter Kubler served in the Hackensack Fire Department from Jan. 5, 1998 till Jan. 1, 2020.

    Firefighter Kubler was diagnosed with cancer in October 2019 which was linked to his recovery work after the attacks in NYC on 9/11/01. Hackensack Fire Department would like to thank the Professional Firefighters of Maine and specifically, the Bath Professional Firefighters for their ongoing support of firefighter Kubler and his family over the last few months.

    Together with family and friends we will celebrate Richie’s life with a procession from Daigle Funeral Home to First Congregational Church, UCC 28 High Street Wiscasset, on Saturday, Aug. 1 with the procession starting 1 p.m. The funeral service begins at 2 p.m. and will be limited to family, his coworkers and first responders. The mass will be live streamed on Hackensack Fire Department and First Congregational Church, UCC Facebook pages. Please take time to remember Firefighter Kubler for his sacrifice to help others.
