Great State Debate tonight

Tue, 10/18/2016 - 7:15am

The Great State Debate will occur at The Opera House of Boothbay Harbor on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.

Once again the citizens of our towns will be able to hear, see, and interact with our candidates for State House and Senate, when they debate each other, and answer questions from you, the voters. Chip Griffin and Bruce MacDonald have collaborated on a nonpartisan format for the debate, which will feature Republican, Democratic, and Independent candidates for state office.

Onstage for the debate will be State Representative Stephanie Hawke and Boothbay Harbor Selectboard member Wendy Wolf, both candidates for the House of Representatives; and State Senator Chris Johnson and former State Representative Dana Dow, both candidates for the State Senate.

The debate will be moderated by community leader, Peggy Pinkham.

The format will consist of two halves for the evening. In the first half, the moderator will pose questions to the candidates both individually and as a group, with all candidates having a chance to respond and rebut. The second half of the evening will feature voters having the chance to ask questions of the candidates, again with responses, as appropriate, from their opponents.

The Opera House at Boothbay Harbor is located at 86 Townsend Avenue.
