Five Dolphins compete at state Y all-star meet

Boothbay Region YMCA Dolphin swim team coach Zach Gray had five of his top swimmers on deck when he gathered his South team together at the 18th annual state Y all-star meet held at Bates College on Sunday, Feb. 3.

Chosen to participate based on their best times in certain events this season were Graham Harris, Will Sledge, Marlowe Recoing-Tallen, Ella Watts and Sage Wickline.

The meet featured the best swimmers from three Y districts, South, Central and North. Gray, as the head coach of the South team, was able to use some of his Dolphin swimmers in some of the relays as well.

Results of the meet were not available at press time.

Harris, a high school swimmer, competed in the boys 15 and over 50-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle. He was also the anchor on the 200-yard freestyle relay team.

Sledge competed in the boys 9-10 50-yard butterfly and on the South’s 200-yard medley relay team.

Recoing-Tallen swam in the boys 13-14 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle events, and was chosen to compete on the 200-yard medley relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay teams.

Watts competed in the girls 9-10 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle events, and was chosen to compete on the 200-yard medley relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay teams.

Wickline swam in the girls 9-10 50-yard breaststroke and 50-yard butterfly events, and was chosen to compete on the 200-yard medley relay team.
