First major snow storm drops several inches on Boothbay region

New Boothbay Harbor resident Sue Decker must have thought she had woken up in a winter wonderland after seven inches of snow fell the night of Dec. 17. Decker had not seen much snow in the past year and a half living in Tennessee, but she saw plenty of it after living in Newburyport, Massachusetts for 31 years.

While other locals were dismayed in having to shovel their doorsteps and plow driveways, Decker enjoyed removing snow from her automobile the next morning. “I’ve never really had to shovel snow because my men always did it,” she said. “But, I’m kind of enjoying it. It’s tough, but I like it.”

WGME 13 and the National Weather Service reported the snowstorm dropped seven inches on Boothbay Harbor and 16.5 inches on Westport Island.
