Finalists for town manager position announced

The Boothbay Harbor Select Board has announced the finalists for the position of town manager. The finalists, Julia Latter and Robert Peabody Jr., were selected from a field of 25 applicants in a national search.

Latter is a Maine native who grew up in Boothbay Harbor and is living in the community. She has an associate’s degree in applied science from Andover College. Latter has worked for the town of Boothbay Harbor for 22 years and is currently acting town manager and finance officer/human resources manager for the town.

Peabody is a Maine native. He grew up in Bath and has a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Maine, Orono. He is currently town manager of Bridgton, Maine and previously worked as town manager in Rockport, Maine.

On Monday, Oct. 28, from 6 to 7 p.m., the public is invited to an informal “meet and greet” gathering at the Boothbay Harbor Municipal Building meeting room to meet the candidates.

On Tuesday, Oct. 29, the candidates will have the opportunity to meet with town employees and take part in interviews with the town’s department heads. The select board will conduct additional interviews with each candidate in the evening.

It is anticipated that a final decision on a new town manager will be announced the following week.
