Fellowship welcomes minister
The Midcoast Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is pleased to announce that the Reverend Erika Hewitt of Bath will serve the as the Fellowship's half-time contract minister beginning in September, when the Fellowship celebrates its 30th anniversary. She is a worship consultant and coach, a yoga instructor, and is a 2002 graduate of Starr King School for the Ministry.
A California native, Rev. Hewitt earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Ohio Wesleyan University and two master's degrees from Tulane University (in Latin American studies and anthropology).
She served in California as acting minister for the UU Community Church in Santa Monica, as parish minister for the Live Oak UU Congregation in Goleta, and as interim minister of Religious Exploration for the UU Church of Davis.
She has an extensive list of awards, honors and published writings. Her book, "Story, Song, and Spirit: Fun and Creative Worship for All Ages," was published by Skinner House in 2010.
Hewitt describes her greatest passion within parish ministry as "crafting vibrant, creative, meaningful worship services."
As Unitarian Universalists, she writes, "we are called to develop our theology more fully, honing a message and a core that can stand strongly on its own in a world hungry for the liberal religious message." There is more information on her website, www.uuminister.com.
