The U.S. Small Business Administration Maine District Office, in conjunction with AARP and CEI Maine, will be hosting an “Encore Entrepreneur” workshop in Wiscasset on April 24. The workshop will provide prospective entrepreneurs with in-person, real-world actionable information that they can use in starting or growing a small business.

“One in four individuals between the ages of 44 and 70 are interested in becoming an entrepreneur,” said Marilyn Geroux, SBA district director for Maine. “In fact, entrepreneurs over the age of 50, also known as encore entrepreneurs, are one of the fastest-growing groups of entrepreneurs in the United States. Given that, the SBA is working diligently with our partners to help get the word out about resources that are available to help them become successful,” Geroux said.

In addition to hearing brief presentations from panelists, participants will have the opportunity to speak with staff experts in a one-on-one setting, get answers to their specific questions and receive personalized assistance.

The workshop will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 24 at the Wiscasset Town Office, which is located at 51 Bath Road, Wiscasset.

This workshop is entitled “Encore Entrepreneur” and primarily designed for individuals who are looking to start a business as a second career, but the event is open to people of all ages.
