DMR will be holding virtual Vibrio training sessions in 2021

Thu, 01/14/2021 - 11:15am

2021 Vibrio training is required for harvesters and dealers who harvest or buy oysters or hard clams directly from the Damariscotta River, New Meadows Lakes and the upper Sheepscot River. Please note that a regulation change is being proposed that will include the Nonesuch and Scarborough Rivers as well as Spinney Creek to the Vibrio Control Plan (Chapter 115). This change will likely be effective in early March so DMR strongly recommends harvesters and dealers who harvest or buy oysters or hard clams from these areas participate in the scheduled trainings.

The virtual training sessions will be held using the Microsoft TEAMS platform that is accessible for free to all participants from 4 to 5 p.m. on the following dates: Feb. 23, Feb. 25, March 9 and March 11.

Additional information will be made available in advance of the meetings including the remote meeting link. There is no charge for the training and any interested parties who are not specifically required to attend are welcome to join.

If you have participated in Vibrio training twice, you may complete the renewal quiz along with a plan renewal form which you can find on our website after Feb. 1. https://www.maine.gov/dmr/shellfish-sanitation-management/vibrio.html.
