Defying the drought

This summer’s dry weather hasn’t been the best for plants to flourish but Ann Reed’s Morning Glory seems to be rivaling Jack’s beanstalk.

“For about 10 years I have planted Morning Glory seeds around our lamp post, and some years, ‘Glory’ has done well, others not so much,” said the Boothbay woman. “This year, even with drought conditions, she has taken off in a variety of colors and climbed her way into our maple tree. She's up about four feet into the tree and is blooming her heart out!”

Guess it is a case of, expect the unexpected in 2020.
