Curtain up at the Lincoln Theater
Now that we have enjoyed the unofficial start of summer with Memorial Day weekend, Lincoln Theater is adjusting its schedule, adding an additional night and having a weekly matinee on Thursday (daily matinees will return in the fall). In July and August, we’ll introduce our “rainy day matinees” in hopes that, if it’s raining, we’ll be playing — and you'll be here!
Bears (G)
In an epic story of breathtaking scale, Disneynature's new True Life Adventure “Bears” showcases a year in the life of a bear family as two impressionable young cubs are taught life's most important lessons. Set against a majestic Alaskan backdrop teeming with life, their journey begins as winter comes to an end and the bears emerge from hibernation to face the bitter cold. The world outside is exciting-but risky-as the cubs' playful descent down the mountain carries with it a looming threat of avalanches.
As the season changes from spring to summer, the brown bears must work hard to find food-ultimately feasting at a plentiful salmon run-while staying safe from rival male bears and predators, including an ever-present wolf. Final screenings on Wednesday, May 28 at 7 p.m. and Thursday, May 29 at 2 and 7 p.m.; run time 1 hour, 18 minutes. Presented in partnership with Renys.
Fading Gigolo (R)
Fioravante (John Turturro) decides to become a professional Don Juan as a way of making money to help his cash-strapped friend, Murray (Woody Allen). With Murray acting as his “manager,” the duo quickly finds themselves caught up in the cross-currents of love and money. Plays Friday, May 30, Saturday, May 31, Sunday, June 1 and Tuesday, June 3 at 7 p.m.; run time 1 hour 38 minutes.Presented in partnership with Cheney Insurance.
Driving Miss Daisy
Shot during the play’s Australian tour, and starring Angela Lansbury and James Earl Jones, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see two iconic Broadway and Hollywood veterans in one of the most enduring and popular stage plays of our time. Driving Miss Daisy tells the affecting story of the decades-long relationship between an elderly Southern Jewish woman, Daisy Werthan, and her compassionate African-American chauffeur, Hoke Colburn. Their iconic tale of pride, changing times and the transformative power of friendship has warmed the hearts of millions worldwide. Plays Wednesday, June 4 at 7 p.m. and Thursday, June 5 at 2 p.m.
Henry IV, Part I
From Stratford-Upon-Avon, Shakespeare’s home, comes this latest production from the Royal Shakespeare Company. With his crown under threat from enemies both foreign and domestic, Henry IV prepares for war. Having deposed the previous king, he is only too aware of the tenuousness of his position, and of the price to be paid if he falters. Son, Hal and his friend, Falstaff are thrust into the brutal reality of the battlefield, where Hal must confront his responsibilities to family and throne. The 2 hour, 45-minute play screens Thursday, June 5 at 7 p.m. and encores Thursday, June 26 at 7 p.m. Presented in partnership with Charter Oak Capital Management.
