This fall, Coastal Senior College (CSC) again offers its popular course in “Revision Techniques: How to Cut and Prune Your Writing” with author and teacher Caroline Janover. Registration is now open for this and the 13 other courses in the fall catalogue.

In the class, students will discuss memoir writing; how to prune their writing to make it stronger, funnier, or more real; and how to deliver and receive constructive criticism. The class will meet on Zoom from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursdays, Sept. 17 to Oct. 22. Janover graduated from Sarah Lawrence College and holds two master’s degrees in special education. She has spent her professional career working in public and private school education, and has won the New Jersey Governor’s Outstanding Teacher Award. She is the award-winning author of four novels and a play for children and young adults.

CSC, which serves Lincoln and Knox counties, currently offers classes in literature, history, writing, math, science, and human behavior. Eight classes meet in person, four on Zoom, and one is a hybrid class.

The organization is among a statewide network of 17 volunteer-run Senior Colleges that offer daytime classes and other educational activities primarily for people 50 and over. They provide an opportunity to learn in a congenial, informal atmosphere and to meet fellow learners. Members of one College may take courses in any of the others.
