The Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor is pleased to announce the teams that won the raffle prizes for the three trivia questions included in the rally course.
Winner of the first prize, a copy of Rachel Carson’s book, “The Edge of the Sea,” was Team Karma made up of Germaine and Rodney Waltz, Lyndell Brackett, Melody Davis, Jenna Davis and Levi Smith. The Rachel Carson memorial on the shoreline and its moving message, “Here at last returned to the sea-‘to Oceanus, the ocean river, like the ever-flowing stream of time, the beginning and the end’” was the highlight of the route for most people.
Anne and Ed Cataldo won a copy of “The Wizard of Oz” with the closest guess on the circumference of the oak tree on Murray Hill Landing Road at 16’4”. (We measured it at 16’5”.)
And John and Cathy Miller’s guess of 67 urns of balsamic vinegars and olive oils at Eventide won them a copy of “Over Easy and Over the Top” Topside Inn Recipe Book.
Approximately 75 teams participated in the July rally, and many sent emails thanking the church for providing this fun and informative event. In fact, lots of folks asked that we do it next year so keep an eye out for a banner on the Church lawn next summer. Also, we have had lots of requests for copies of the rally guidebook from people who missed driving it in July. We agree that it would be great to make it available for everyone at any time so we are working on a booklet version and will let you know when and where you can pick one up shortly. In the meantime, keep exploring. And congratulations to the raffle winners and everyone that completed the course.
