Care packages
Residents at the Inn at St. Andrews Village are about to send their third We Care package to a serviceman.
This project began when then-receptionist, Sally Carroll, was saying good-bye to her son when he was deployed overseas. It continued when a basket in the hall was filled for a resident’s grandson. People added small, useful gifts to that basket, using a list of items any serviceperson could use.
Now, a third package is being readied for the grandson of another resident.
It’s an expression of support for these young men — and later, young women.
For music, Lefty returned, with his keyboard and saxophone, to play and sing for a small but appreciative audience. Later, David Stone regaled residents with timely piano music, using songs to match musical topics.
Both musicians, like others, play or sing concerts in the Gregory Wing and the Assisted Living unit as well as for people in Independent Living.
