Services/Goods Offered: Horse lesson programs, showing and camps. I offer group and private lessons in one hour time blocks. Lesson time includes grooming, tacking, riding and untacking. Lessons are available to all ages and all levels of experience. English riding is our area of expertise. Camps are offered during school vacations, on several school holidays, and monthly in one week sessions throughout the summer. Participants may register by the day or by the week as space allows. Riders interested in competition may participate in four Tri-County Horseman’s Council shows each season. Burke’s Island Farm often offers additional opportunities to show in Skowhegan, Cumberland, Hollis and other Maine shows.
Owner profile: I was born a lover of horses. I have been taking lessons since age 10, doing some showing and helping around every barn I have ever rode with. When I was 18, I bought my first horse and have owned eight more, using them for lessons and for myself and lesson students to show. Now I really want to focus on giving kids opportunities to learn about farm care and riding horses. I have been giving lessons for approximately five years and am very passionate about showing my horses and knowledge with others.
Special features: We offer a 66 by 120-foot indoor riding arena and also a 70 by 120-foot outdoor arena. There are trails nearby and a full board, which includes daily turnout, grain twice a day, hay four times a day, and several training/exercise options for your horse. We will also be offering clinics periodically for those interested in jumping, dressage, showmanship and other practices.
Goals: To provide top quality care of horses and education for riders of the Midcoast region.
