BRES K-4 Christmas concert holiday-style charming

The 12th annual Boothbay Region  Elementary School Holiday Concert drew a large crowd of family and friends Dec. 15.

The program included the kindergarten and first grade entertaining the audience with the song about everyone’s favorite reindeer, “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.” This was followed by a most appropriate song for children this age to sing, “All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth.”

Hearkening back to Rudolph, K-2 sang a song some grownups find themselves humming all year long, “We Are Santa’s Elves.” The second graders went solo for “Must Be Santa.”

Mrs. LeConte’s class played the bells to “Jingle Bells,” and no holiday show is complete without it.

The third grade got things swinging with “Deck the Halls” and “It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas.” And they surely are and it surely is.

A reflective, tender song, “Where Are You Christmas,” was in the hearts and voices of the fourth graders. Lovely job, too.

“When Santa's sleight bells ring I listen all around,
The herald angels sing I never hear a sound
And all the dreams of the children once lost will all be found
That's all I want when Christmas comes to town
That's all I want when Christmas comes to town”

These lyrics are from “When Santa Comes To Town.” It was sung by the second and fourth grades, ending the class performances and segueing into the sing-along with the audience.

What, oh what could that final song have been? “We Wish You A Merry Christmas,” of course!

At the concert’s end, the students visited Santa Claus, from whom they received the favorite candy of all North Polers: candy canes.

The children were delightful from beginning to end. Some dressed in holiday finery (mostly the girls! Imagine!); some wore elf hats or santa hats, and one young man wore a pair of holiday glasses that Elton John would have approved of!
