Boothbay Region Elementary School celebrated its graduating students with a drive-through certificate hand-off and parade June 14. This is the second time the graduation has been held this way due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

“Last year we had great feedback from parents and the community about the event format. The drive-through and parade allows the families to get more involved and have fun with the promotion as well,” said Principal Shawna Kurr. “It was something we were forced to do during the pandemic, that could quite possibly become a new BRES tradition moving forward.”

Teachers handed out certificates and goodie bags filled with a t-shirt, mask, cupcake and more. Their fellow faculty, staff and community members cheered on the future Seahawks. School Resource Officer Larry Brown, Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor and Southport fire departments and Boothbay Region Ambulance Service escorted the parade.

The incoming Boothbay Region High School freshmen include Brian Abbe, Hannah Abello, Imij Armstead, Neal Baldwin, Dean Brewer, Paige Botts, Magen Burge, Aidric Canada, Eddie Carpenter, Skyla Carrier, Abigail Clark, Lydia Currier, Grahm Cox, Braden Davis, Nicholas Fassett, Tyson French, William Frazel, Nicholas Giles, Anna Gosselin, Hannah Hills, Alyssa Hyson, Cassidy Leeman, Silas Lehouiller, Chase Mansfield, Kennadie Murray, Liliana Nein, Madeline Orchard, Mason Paquette, Elizabeth Pearce, Spencer Pottle, Niam Rogers, Cleyton Splaine and Spencer Wenners.
