BRBA has a fun, challenging and safe season

After a chilly and wet spring, fifty of the region’s boys and girls had a fun-filled baseball season with Boothbay Region Baseball Association (BRBA). Once the cry of “Play Ball” was heard, the hooting, hollering and laughing heard from the fields was encouraging and the skills built by these hard-working kids are notable. The future of baseball in our region looks bright.

The support of our community, sponsors and parents made field improvements, the acquisition of safety equipment and gear possible and for the players to have a ton of fun. The BRBA Board, the town of Boothbay officials and crews, Boothbay Harbor school officials and staff, and Hawke Motors were all instrumental in getting the season started.

BRBA would like to extended its thanks to the following: 2019-2020 Field Sponsors: Hammond Lumber, Knickerbocker Group and Rotary Club of Boothbay Harbor. In addition to the field improvements and necessary maintenance gear, their generosity will be further assisting with a new storage building; 2019 Team Sponsors: Ebenecook Maritime, Northern Lights Electric, Doucette Builders, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, G.L. Gamage & Sons, Jody Lewis Property Maintenance, Hancock Lumber, First Federal Savings, and J. Edward Knight Insurance; Additional Sponsors: E.M. Wood Construction, Harold Bishop Agency, Peninsula Painting and Robinson’s Wharf.

Last, but not least, warmest thanks to the parent volunteers for signing up, showing up and encouraging these kids to have fun and do their best. Julia Fallon, Weston Alley and Tony Hyson worked with T-Ball; Bruce Orne, Mike Hills, Tony Hyson, Lisa Adams, Matt Doucette, Val and Keed Gamage challenged the Rookie League. BRBA Board members John and Peggy Splaine, Jessica Doucette, Lisa Adams, Val and Keed Gamage, Colleen Hennessy, Matt Doucette and Adam Harkins handled a pile of ‘behind the scenes’ to put the season in motion and keep it rolling and for that, we say thank you.
