Boothbay students inducted into National Honor Society
Ten students were inducted into the National Honor Society at Boothbay Region High School on May 1.
The ceremony was conducted by past inductees of the NHS, under the direction of school administrators. A candle was lit for each virtue by which NHS members are considered: scholarship, service, leadership and character.
Each inductee then lit a white candle, representing the lamp/candle of knowledge. They then took the NHS Pledge and signed the official ledger, receiving their NHS membership cards and pins. Superintendent of Schools Eileen King congratulated the students on their accomplishments and outstanding service to school and community.
The new inductees include Karl Alamo, Kyle Alamo, Brenna Alley, Courtney Brewer, Nicole LaBrecque, David Machon, Sinead Miller, Jessica Murphy, Collin Thompson and Zachary Vise. This group joins current members Jude Alamo, Nell Anthony, Benjamin Betts, Hannah Brewer, Robert Campbell, Courtney Chaney, Benjamin Dewey, Dana Greenleaf, Evelyn Greenleaf, Kaia Groneng, Myron Hahn, Reilly Kane, Victoria Schmid and Sophia Thayer.
A reception was held for the new members, and their families and friends following the ceremony.
